 Coach Scott Gave is the Owner/Head coach for Fit 2 Defend Academy

Scott Gave is a Professional Martial Arts/Fitness/Life/Wellness coach with over 20 years of experience related to instructing and managing operations within the Martial Arts & Fitness Industries. During this time, Scott has mentored over 3000 students. He has promoted over 200 + students to their Black Belts. He has helped develop and implement programs that have increased the student memberships by over 75% in 4 different Martial Arts academies. He has trained several staff members and empowered & certified over hundreds students in a Leadership program that he developed. He has a goal to expand his knowledge and experience in the Business, Martial Arts, Fitness and Wellness industries. Scott also has a goal to empower his local communities on the benefits of training.

  • 3rd Degree Black Belt in a blended style of Martial Arts (Filipino Kali, Muay Thai Kickboxing, Jeet Kune Do, Japanese Shoot Wrestling, and Boxing under Guro Marc Halleck.

  • 2nd Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do under Sensei Rebecca and Colin Dick.

  • 1st Degree Black Belt in Hand-to-Hand Combat under Hock Hochheim.

Blake is a 25-year- old professional Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Brown Belt under Jeff Serafin. Blake has been

bodybuilding since the age of 12 and was a wrestler and football player in high school. He began his

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Career in April of 2011 and is an accomplished active competitor in the Brazilian Jiu

Jitsu scene in both gi and no gi. His style consists of a sophisticated open guard system accompanied by

an aggressive guard passing system with pin-point pressure and swift agility.

Coach Mark is currently a one striped brown belt under Professor Chris Haueter & Jeff Serafin. Coach Mark has been training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu for 8 years. Mark has competed in several international and local tournaments such as: IBJJF worlds & chicago, New breed challenge, Naga, etc. Due to coach Mark career he has the ability to travel regularly and has trained with some of the best BJJ legends such as Chris Haueter, Kurt Osainder, Sergio Pena just to name a few. 

Simon Park

Assistant Adult BJJ Coach- Saturday Mornings

Simon started training in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu in 2002 with the Pedro Sauer Affiliation Gym. Simon has trained under a large variety of technical masters, world champions, and MMA fighters, including Helio Gracie, Pedro Sauer, Ryron Gracie, Rener Gracie, and Chris Haueter

Simon has spent much of his career training in Georgia and the last 8 years in Chicago. Simon currently trains with Professor Chris Haueter (5th Degree under Rigan Machado) who is one of the BJJ Dirty Dozen (first 12 Non-Brazilian recipients of the BJJ black belt). He received his black belt from Rigan Machado in 1996, is the first American black belt to compete in the Mundials De Jiu-Jitsu in Brazil, the first American black belt to win a black belt match.

Simon in early 2012 took gold at the NAGA Championships in Illinois and currently training to compete in future tournaments. Simon has a 4-1 record in amateur MMA and has retired from fighting. Simon is a lifelong athlete who attended many martial arts disciplines(ie. Boxing;Kickboxing;Wrestling) and receiving black belts in Muay Thai and Tae Kwon Do.
